Well, so deep is the power supply. This time I received a letter from one of the readers and experimented based on that. And I got a result which overturned what I believed. It beat me down to size though; it was a really nice learning for me. Hi-Fi Do Record shop: Ryutaro Asai |

Power supply box. Each company is merchandising various kinds of stuffs. Honestly we don't have any stock in the shop, so I cannot compare each item. However, perhaps many of you may use a plug with the 3P earth cable for the power cable. In that case, the CSE power supply tap will solve the problem the case earth cable of each equipment gets connected through a medium of the power box. You can float the earth cable off the ground. Here is IC60A. Although this is a primary model, the ability is worth 100,000 yen. This is my push. |

Socket outlet The better the socket outlet you use, the better the performance will be. After all, this is the source of power. That's all… (You will understand what I mean at the end.) Anyway please replace what you've got with the one for audio grade in the meantime. |

Power cable This is the main item. What I prepared is KIMBER KABLE PK-10 and PK-18. The connector is the same. So these cables are basically brothers only with different cable diameter. This time, I compared these two cables in various situations. |

Let's me introduce the audio equipments. The CD player of my pick is DENON "DCD-1650AZ". The pre-main amp is Marantz "PA01". Power cables are detachable from both equipments. Yes it is. This time these two equipments are going to be sacrifices. In short, I will enjoy comparing the abovementioned brother cables with these equipments in various situations. |

First of all, I tried PK-14. I used this for 1650AZ, and the accompanying cable for PA01. Then I replaced with each other afterwards. I was surprised. It is totally different. When used for a player, it can get the benefit of high resolution and the broad space feeling. However, it may sound a little bit rough. Also when I used it for an amp for the first time, I noticed that there is obviously no braking functioning. After all, the advantage of changing on the amp side is a balance on the pyramid side. Although the resolution is low, the sound is more vivid. Besides, the sound is listener-friendly. Well..it's so deep. |
Next is PK-10. If I used this on the CD player side there is good resolution and broad space feeling as I though, but at the same time the sound gets blow up in low-region and has a roughness. When used on the amp side, the center of gravity goes down as I imagined. The sensation is lively. It's like music whispers into your ear. |
Now lastly I replaced with KIMBER KABLE on the both sides. In addition, I replaced 10 and 14 as well to listen to each sound. First of all, I turned up the volume on the player side. GOOD! The disadvantage is gone compared with the case replacing on the only one side. The atmosphere is not destroyed, and besides there is no roughness. Then I switched cables. I turned up the volume on the amp side. I was impressed!!! The sound is settled and more vivid. Above all, the balance is excellent. Compared to this sound, the sound before seemed to be lucking the braking function. |
I thought why. Perhaps, the thickness of the sound will be directly shown as a difference of the performance However, when you use a good stuff for CD, you cannot control any more unless you use a better stuff for amp. Although it depends on the kind of the CD player, it just doesn't mean "the better power cable, the better performance". The most important thing is a balance after all. Hmmm…It was a good learning for me. |
