Hello, I am Ito at Akihabara Store. Continued from the last time, I would like to try to make darker jazz sound by using the jensen's P8P full range unit. As an 8-inch full range unit, the Western's 755A and its follower, the ALTEC's 755E Pancake, are famous. The P8P is said to be a full range unit superior to them in its tonal quality. This is also said in respect to the TRUSONIC's 80FR. The P8P and 80FR are almost the same in tonal quality, but I feel the 80FR offers a little bit more refreshing sound. |

Next, how to use the P8P? In general, an OFC mainstream cable, which is not so thick or expensive, like the Belden's and unlike the recent high-speed speaker cable, is suitable for this kind of speakers, but the Belden's cable makes the sound a little bit sentimental. For this reason, I got and connected the Western's speaker cable with it. On the whole, the sound is tightened. Especially the low range sounds tightly and the resolution is high. This should be considered as a better change. Yes, I would like to make the sound a little bit darker. Then, I connected a line-transformer between the CD and the amphifier. |

Here again I used a transformer such as the Western 111 or 91. Though I thought the range would be compressed so much, the sound is unexpectedly natural. They are very interesting transformers that enhance each tonal quality without changing the whole structure of music. (In the past, I tried a variety of line-transformers, but many of them made the sound softer and I disliked it.) Although the boosting is 1:1 in both cases, the 91 seems to make the volume higher while I listen. I like the 91 better than the 111. |

Last but not least, I tried some amplifiers at hand. Unexpectedly good was a combination of the Dynaco's PAS 3X and the STEREO70. The low range sound is a little bit weak, but the sound comes in front of us lively thanks to the full range. Can we re-create the Village Vanguard night at last? |
