This time I wrote how I felt about ALTEC Patrician 800, which came into Akihabara Store, in my own way.

This is the original Patrician 800 of 103dB. Its enclosure has been already restored and just waiting for the next owner.

Large-scale speakers of those days were mainly used for talking picture though, ELECTRO VOICE was developed for household use from the Patrician line.

The crossover frequency is 100Hz/800Hz/3500Hz. Differences from Patrician 700 are the horn which is 6HD for 700 and 8HD for 800 and the crossover frequency which is 600Hz for 700 and 800Hz for 800.

And the highlight is a woofer of 30W and 76cm in bore diameter. This is a huge and reliable unit as if this woofer were giving Patrician a significance of existence. The cone is made of foamed plastic and lighter than you think, so it is available for smooth movements.

It sounds good for any genre.
The sounds from stringed instruments are smooth and good in quality.
I even felt as if there was no ceiling in Akihabara Store since the sounds go up endlessly in high range.
And, 30W woofer seems to get affected by a setting on the speaker quite a lot.
It seems like the sound goes well-balanced when it's a bit far from the wall.
At last I thought that keeping a good balance between the 30W woofer and mid and high range would be a key point.
