1.Sales result of "How much would you pay to buy Sony Cartridge case?"

This item seemed to be as popular as FR-5 cartridge case in last week.

2.How much would you pay to buy "All about JBL" magazine?

We would like to introduce one of the separated volumes of Stereosound
magazine, which title is "All about JBL".

We were so surprised at the highest price of the first issue of Stereosound
Magazine introduced last week. Therefore, we decided to provide
"All about JBL" this week.
The series of separated volumes of Stereosound are essential magazine
for audiophile and every Hi-Fi Do sales staff must read them to improve
their knowledge about audio equipment.

It was published April 30, 1993. The contents are still useful even though
ten years has passed. It is not certain but according to our president this
magaizine might be the oldest reference material mentioning only JBL.
It is very valuable reference book in Hi-Fi Do, but we will specially
offer it to JBL fun.

3. Result of Auction for Tonearm

Number of bids : 2
Winning bid : \100,000

Bidding price is always tending close to the market price and this time
winning price was just same as the market price.
If you find the item you really want in acution, it might be better
to bid a little higher than the market price just before closing time
in order to get it.


4. Auction for Lux SQ5B

Auction item in this week is Lux SQ5B which has not arrived to our shop
for long time.

Lux SQ5B marketed in 1962, almost 40 years ago , so we guessed that
it might not be in good working condition. We found that it could not
deliver any sound when we checked its condition. Then we asked technical
support of Lux and they replied that it could be repaired still
now.

Estimate for repair cost is as follows:
Output transformaer : 1 pc.
9p socket : 9 pcs.
Condenser : 20 pcs.

Total parts cost : \60,000
Technical repair fee : \24,000

Total repair cost is too expensive to sell it as used item, but it is
regrettable to sell it as junk item when we consider the background
of this product.
Therefore, we will provide SQ5B as present condition for auction and
we will ask the winning bidder if he want to repair or not.

We will give you brief information for SQ5B.
The products of Lux with SQ model number are pre-main amplifier.
Lux SQ5A,the former model of SQ5B, marketed in 1961. It was the first
premain amplifier by Lux and also the first stereo integrated amplifier
in which tone control circuit was used. SQ5B was minor-changed model
of SQ5A which was marketed in 1962.
Output tube was 6BQ5 push-pull with 14W+ 14W power.
SQ5B was excellent not only in quality but in design, and it seemed to
be the best amplifier being produced in Japan in those days.
SQ5Bb was the upgraded product of SQ5B and it had been produced till
1968.

We would like to introduce the history of Lux though it wander off the
subject.
It is well known that the prodecessor of Lux was radio equipment
department of Kinsuido which was picture flame store.
The former name of Kinsuido was "Hayakawa Store". The funder of
Lux was Tetsuo Hayakawa, and the father of Tetsuo was Usaburo
Hayakawa who was an importer of glasses.
Usaburo invented various kind of products while he ran "Hayakawa store".
One of his famous inventions was glass fish tank with metal flame.
In these days, gold fishes used to be kept in porcelain basin,
so his invention had a great reputation and since then his fish tank
was popularized for goldfish.
Usaburo was an absolute perfectionist and he liked anything new.
Such character was inheriated to Tetsuo.
Tetsuo was very interested in Chemics. One day he had explosion accident
during experiment and he was prohibited to experiment by his family.
Afterward he was interested in radio techniques.
It seemed to be safer than chemics without explosion.
In 1922 when Tetsuo started radio transmitting test, the radio
equipment was not legally allowed , therefore he conducted practical
radio receiving test in secrecy.
The government allowed Radio Broadcasting after Great Kanto Earthquakes
in 1923. Then Tetsuo displayed handcrafted radio equipment at his store
and it surprised people . Kinsuido was so crowded with many people who
came to hear the sound of radio all day long. That led to establish
the raido equipment department of Kinsuido .
Forward-looking and enthusiastic charactor of the founder must enable
to develop attractive nd outstanding audio products for audiophile.
