Hi-Fi Do's Online Newsletter July 3 , 2004 Hi-Fi Do Newsletter has recently changed with new topics such as "Cappuchino's Jazz Live Concert Report" and "Walking around Akihabara". We have established "Jolly Club" which updates information on audio and music for our Newsletter. "Jolly" means fun, joyful and pleased. "Jolly Club" are composed by 5 members who are different in ages and occupation. Information on "Meihou Music Festival" Meihou Music Festival is an open-air concert mainly performing Jazz music. I watched a video of playing violin and imitated it, however, I couldn't play it. I called my friend who l played the violin and asked him how to play it. "First, rub the rosin on the srings of your bow in your bow tuning kit. Then, you can sound it. I will visit you afternoon and teach you how to play it." he said. "What time can you come?" I asked . "Till seven o'clock." he said. I could sound it by rubbing the rosin. I thought that playing violin was more difficult than playing the piano. I slept very well when I listened to the music CD of violin by SARAH CHANG. My friend visited me just at seven o'clock. He asked me the reason why I bought the violin and I answered him that I just wanted to confirm how the sound by stereo must be close to the real sound. I asked him to play it and he started to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" for the beginner's tune. He played well and he taught me how to play it but I found it was really difficult for me. We listened to the stereo sound to compare it with the real sound. He said, "This stereo sound is completely different from the sound by my CD Cassete deck. How much is this type of stereo?" "Around 100,000 yen only for amplifier, but first you should go to Hi-Fi Do and ask the price to the manager." http://www.hifido.co.jp/merumaga/040702/photo/photo.jpg To be continued. 3.Assembly and Disassembly - TEAC X-10R The first try by "Jolly Club" is TEAC X-10R which is a very famous open deck. Audiophile's ultimate desire was to get the same sound quality as the master tape by record company and the deck with 2 track 38 cm could only make it. I remembered that the open-reel deck with stereo by 4 track system was most popular around 1973 and the tape machine was rapidly improved from one moter to three motors with 3 heads. The tape speed from reel to reel was 9.5cm, 19cm, and 38cm per second by analogue system. These days FM broadcasting started and it made the open-reel deck golden years. At that time, very expensive software tapes copied master tape were released and it became popular in 1978. TEAC deck adopted the same system for 4 track, 2 channel, 9.5cm and 19cm, 10 inches at largest. Most open-reel deck manufacturers do not accept the repair and maintenance recently, however, it is grateful to audiophiles that TEAC sitll accept repair and maintenance for their open-reel decks.
