1.Assembly and Disassembly
Model Name : Victor Radio Electrola
Victor Radio Electrola is very rare monaural phonograph with radio tuner.
and it is remarkable for an indicator by green electric light called "Magic Eye".
Radio Electrola might be produced around 1960 and this model could reproduce SP/EP/LP.
Audiophiles in those days used to buy audio parts and assemble their own radio,
record player, speaker by themselves.
The point of assembly and disassembly
1. Vacuum tubes
2. Soldering in circuit board
3. Cartridge of record, turnover switch
4. Magic Eye indicator
Assembly and Disassembly by Satake is shown in the following website :
The feature of "CD Picks of the week" is "Piano" and the title is "Jazz Cafe".
Mr. Kondo recommends a newly released "Magical Cafe" by Mitsuaki Kishi.
Ms. Cappuccino did not have enough time to select CD and Mitsuo Teramoto
of Jolly Club selected "Waltz for Debby" by Bill Evans. It is a suitable CD for
Ms.Cappuccino as a beginner of Jazz.
I asked the manager to let me listen to it and he arranged it immediately.
It was very clear sound to compare with MC275
and it seemed my favorite type among McIntosh. I wanted to get it and asked ,
"The price is more expensive than I expected. Could you make any discount?"
He said, "You already have many amplifiers. Even so will you buy another one ?"
It sounded that he was reluctant to sell it. I decided to buy it because I wanted to
compare it with my hand- made amplifier. Another reason is that
I did not have any famous brand model , so had desired to set McIntosh product
in my room. I compared to listen to it through connecting RCA speaker as soon as
I came home. The sound seemed much better than that which I listened to in Hi-Fi Do
and it might be caused by speaker. The sound was clearer with slight power to compare with
hand-made amplifier. I had McIntosh MC60 but the sound through MC225 seemed more natural.
I had been listening to it for two hours and then I checked the inside of MC225.
It seemed quite same as the picture of MC225 shown in Kankyuoukoku Magazine.
All parts were original ones and two seal of maintenance showed that a few parts were
replaced.
I looked forward to assemble hand-made amplifier to imitate MC225.
To be continued
