Recommended CD by Mr. Kondo Take the A Train by MJQ (Manhattan Jazz Quintet) David Matthews(p. arr) Lew Soloff(tp) Andy Snitzer(ts) Charnett Moffett(b) Victor Lewis(ds) Recorded in NY ,June 2004 Released by Video Arts Music ,September 22, 2004 The first album "Manhattan Jazz Quintet" were sold 150,000 and the second album "Autumn Leaves" was sold 200,000. 20 years has passed since MJQ was founded and this album coveres 8 new numbers. These long years might be prosperous for Matthews.Every year they have been releasing new album and this is the 24th album for them .Such accomplishment shows their success and there is no other group which can maintain longtime activity. |

Matthews's speciality was fusion and pops. He started his career with James Brown band.He still respects James Brown as great teacher. Matthews produced many albums for other musicians and he got Grammy prize with the album of Paul Simon. The members of MJQ have been same for recent 10 years and they seems to be consistent in their concept. The feature of MJQ is four beat unique Jazz by all-around player. Their performance is vivid and dynamic with straight sound. |

Recommended CD by Ms,Cappuccino Steve Gadd/ GADD ABOUT Steve Gadd(ds,vo) Richard Tee(ep,ap,DX7) Jeff Mironov(eg) Neil Jason(eb) George Young(ts,ss) Lew Solonoff(tp) Ronnie Cuber(bs) Recorded at A&M studio,N.Y., July 1984 Recorded and Mixed at Warehouse Recording Studio, N.Y., Aug,1984 This is the first leader album of Steve Gadd regarded as The God of Drums and one of revival fusion album.Fusion seems to get popular around 1970s. Steve Gadd was the member of Eric Clapton band. Last year I went to the concert of Eric Clapton and Steve Gadd. They made nicely aging live performance in their live. It must be some reason why there are many longtime musicians. It is because there are longtime fan supporting longtime musicians. |

This is only one leader album by Steve Gadd.Sophisticated city music seems to be derived from Jazz. This CD is recommended when you enjoy driving with your friends as fantastic BGM . |
