This album shows Simone's sense of songs and her originality. There are many feminine numbers suitable for her. Especially the third number "LOVE" , the fourth "For No One", the sixth "I've grown accustomed to his face", the seventh " I'm through with love", the tenth "The nearness of you" express her honesty and tenderness. She tries to make vocal performance according to her taste and sense. It is admirable that Mr. Tetsuo Hara, the producer of Venus Records, found such an excellent Jazz Singer. We look forward to her second album. |

It is inevitable to face the background of racial discrimination. The music appeared in the days when the racial discrimination was common moves us keenly. |

Nina Simone learned to play the piano at 17 and studied piano and composition at the Julliard School. She released her first album "Nina Simone" in 1957 and devoted herself to Black Liberation in 1960s. This CD covers fusion, blues, soul, jazz, folk , pops ,and gospel. Her deep voice in "Feeling Good" inspires us with something strong. "Love Me or Leave Me" is jazzy music. She is very talented singer. If she was alive, I would want to go her live concert. It might be excellent live which gives us goose skin. This CD will give you deep emotion. |
