If Dreams Come True/Eddie Higgins Trio Eddie Higgins(p), Jay Leonhart(b), Joe Ascione(ds) 2004/July recorded in NY Venus Records TKCV-35342 2004/12/22 Eddie Higgins is a star musician of Venus Record and he is now in full swing. This is one of the best album released recently by him. Sound is lively and swinging. The rhythm seems young and excellent.
	The member of this album is quite same in the album released last year. Jay Leonhart (b) and Joe Ascione(d) plays fascinating performance. Their performances harmonize very well with each other. This is the ideal album for melodic and swinging piano trio and covers standard hit numbers. Leonhart and Ascione are the best partner for Higgin's smooth piano touch because their total balance is perfect. The jacket of Venus record was changed from December in 2004. Sexy photographs are often used for the jacket but recently fashionable and elegant design are selected. The sound quality is also improved. You will like his album.
The recording quality of CD by Venus Record is getting better recently. You will notice it when you listen to this album. There are many favorite Jazz pianist but Bill Charlap is ranked in top class. He releases his album mainly from Venus Record lately. However, he used different name, "Bill Charlap Trio " for the albums released from other levels except Venus record about three years ago. New York Trio was used only albums released from Venus record.
	"New York Trio" is great!. Their performance and sound quality make preferable impression. My favorite bassist " Jay Leonhart" joins this trio. I am fascinated with deep and thick sound in "Stariway To The Stars" and " A Sleeping Bee". Stewart makes perfect performance. His ad-lib sounds like matured Charlap's performance and I think it is real NY style jazz. Charlap selects romantic and beautiful numbers for Jazz Piano. There are many slow numbers and I feel strong tie of piano trio throughout their performance. They understand each other very well and make great harmonize play by trio. "Stella By Starlight" is very rhythmical and melodious tunec and they perform it comfortably as the last number of this album. Delicated cymbal and brush play make it lively and impressive. The sound quality is also excellent. Swing Journal took the popularity poll for the numbers which their readers wanted "New York Trio" to play and finally Bill Charlap selected 10 numbers for this album.
