CD recommended by Mr. Kondo Limelight/Emi(vibraphone) Eri(vib) Recorded in February 2004 3361BLACK TKCK-3036 Vibraphone has excellent tone color and it has fascinated people in Modern Jazz Quintet(MJQ) and other music. Eri is a promising new vibraphonist. The tone of vibraphone makes people heal warmly and feel relaxed, and it always charms people. This is very attractive album which one player performs two parts. |

Eri started to play vibraphone at 15 and now she can perform two vibraphones fluently. She tried to make this album with XUXU which is a cappella unit charmed by the tone of vibraphone. I can feel a kind of Jazz taste with this album. Especially, the third number "Scaborough fair" is sounded that two vibraphones are talking each other. Their performance is very active and it makes you feel dancing. I noticed that vibraphone's sound was so fantastic that it made people happy. This is a great album with comfortable sound. |

CD recommend to Ms. Cappuccino from Ms. Trumpeter (guest) SONATA for recorder and basso continuo #5/Corelli Shigeharu Yamaoka(recorder), Masako Hirao(viola da gamba), Taro Takeuchi(lute, baroque guitar), Naoki Ueo(cembalo, organ) Corelli was active as a stable music director for noblemen in Rome from the end of 17 century to 18 century. According to his record, he had over 100 orchestra and conducted the first stage of oratorio by Scarlatti. He was a minor composer in Baroque ages and his total compositions were 6(total 72 ), however, his works were popular and they were printed immediately with the development of printing technology. His works were printed a lot and arranged for various instrument. Later he made great effect on classic music . Number 5 was a great hit as soon as it was released and total 41 editions were issued. |

Yamaoka tried to paly recorder in version of 12 violin sonata(from No.4 to 12). While he performs recorder, he also makes instruments. According to the liner notes, he devoted himself to recording to make this album. His sense of selecting music and instruments is excellent. Anyone will be fascinated with his great performance of recorder which is popular instrument. Baroque music is usually regarded very classical, however, the performers can make improvisation and it can be arranged easily. It is fascinating music to enjoy the sound purely same as Jazz. In this point, Baroque is original model of Jazz. Basso continuo is the custom of performance in those days and it is the way to accompany by improvisational chord on bass sound. In other words, it is same as accompaning according to chord name. Rare instruments performance as supporter is available in this album. For examples, organ by bellows and baroque guitar in 1650s which have very pure sound. Try to listen to it. You will be fascinated with it. This album is good lullaby for my children. |
