Tom's CD jacket leaning his elbow on the grand piano caught my eyes 10 years ago. He seemed to gaze the keyboard or meditate on his lost mind. His sad song seemes to express his melancholy feeling in his mind and such sad atmosphere matches his world. It might be only place where he can relax.

Everybody has past and present. There might be past which can not deleted or healed.
No step ahead will not bring any future. Positive step is required though it is tough for heart broken person. It is easy for PC to reset.
This album is filled with Tom's love and melancholy. You can feel his Jazzy and bluesy mood in his mind.

One day my band member Mr. Ushi suggested to play Janis's song for practice.
My voice was quite different from Janis's voice and it sounded like screaming as I guessed. "Piece of My Herart " is our practice song. All music in this album is really "Essential " numbers.
"Me and Bobby McGee" is played by acoustic guitar only. It might be a demonstrate version.

Janis is regarded as charismatic singer now, however, she was isolated because of her unique personality .
Therefore, she was addicted to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex and it led her further isolation. The movie, "Rose" is miserable story but the title song had positive lyric. It had been mystery for long time that such sad story made positive song. "Rose" ened with following phrase :

Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose

Janis died of overdosing on heroin. Ironically, "Me and Bobby McGee" made a great hit in Billboard one year after her death. This is the only one mega hit song of Janis.
This song might be a rose grown by her. Enjoy to listen to her powerful vocal.
