He has improved more and more. I have several his albums and this seems the best album. He has enough potential to sing and he seems to be a mature singer. He makes great performance of Jazz with natural swing and beat. He has technique of Jazz vocal with slow and lazy mood. I understand his own style through famous standard numbers recorded in this album and I was fascinated with his album. The sound quality is straight ahead sound for Jazz vocal. It gives us natural tone and the feeling of being at a live performance. Deep sound range is impressive. |
CD recommending to Ms. Cappuccino from Black PandaGuest : Black Panda La Muse/Maeshige Emi + Ajimine Satoru Trio Emi Maeshige(vo), Satoru Ajimine(p), Kenji Suzaki(b), Kazuo Minae(ds) Recorded on June 13, 2004 at Studio YOU BOMBA RECORDS This is the first album of Emi Maeshige who won the first prize in the vocal contest of Moriguchi/Kadoma Jazz Festival 2003 . I was fascinated with her vocal which I could not imagine from her lovely face and bright CD jacket. She has soft and thick husky voice and sings songs lightly and elegantly. It is so excellent album that I can not believe that this is her first album. All songs are standard Jazz numbers and it is easy o for me as Jazz beginner to listen to them. Sound quality in this album seems smooth same as record. |

The first song is a slow and comfortable number called "Summer Time". The fifth song is "Georgia On My Mind" which is one of famous number of Ray Charels. My favorite song is "Lullabys of Birdland". Twelfth number is tightly arranged "Summer Time" being different from first number. Thirteenth number is "Tennessee Waltz" which audience in the vocal contest was fascinated with. She is good at speaking English. I think the person who can speak English very well has a keen ear and it enables to improve singing ability. She is such kind of person. It is great for her to finish most of recording in one take. I am looking forward to her performance from now on. |
