CD recommended by Mr. Kondo TEACH ME TONIGHT/Nicole Henry with Eddie Higgins Trio Nicole Henry(vo), Eddie Higgins(p), Jay Leonhart(b), Joe Ascione(ds) Recorded in NY on October Venus Records TKCV-35346 Released on 2005/3/25 Venus Record has produced CD of a talented vocalist with great expectation again. Nicole Henry sings love songs with sorrowful and beautiful voice. This is a great Jazz female singer's album . Eddy Higgins Trio makes excellent performance for her debut album in Japan and their playing and her voice harmonize very well. I foresee her great success in this year.
	Simone seems to be a healing singer, however, Nicole Henry has an inspiring voice and s dynamic performance. It's a matter of taste. She sings "Lover Come Back To Me" in swinging powerfully at medium tempo. On the other hand, her beautiful voice in Bodds Nova song "I've Got You Under My Skin" fascinates me. I always admire a great ability of Venus record to find a promising artist. The performance of Eddy Higgins Trio softens her deep strong voice and their great combination makes us comfortable. This is a great album .
DVD recommended by Ms. Cappuccino Rhapsody In Black(DVD) Artists/Songs: Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstine, Sarah Vaughan, Nat King Cole, Dinah Washington, Marian Anderson, Sammy Davis Jr., Della Reese, GNBJ1008 2005/4/22 released "Rhapsody In Black" is recently released DVD which records Black Big Artist appeared on TV program by Canada Broadcasting Corporation. People in Canada scarcely conceive racial prejudice. Combo performance by nine vocalists at the peak of their career and Duke Ellinton's great performance are available in this DVD. Duke is a cool guy. Sound by Kyaraban is so impressive. Johnny Hodges is a talented saxophonist. Cab Calloway's dancing performance is so unique. Ella Fizgerald has a big body but she is swinging well. I am prepossessed by her gentle manner. Her scat is great.
	Billy Eckstine looks snobbish but has great ability in singing. Sarah Vaughon seems smug. Nat King Cole looks dandy. He made piano performacne. Dinah Washington reminds me of Chiemi Eri. Marian Anderson sings Ave Maria at Lincoln Memorial. It was a pity that she was not admired for her talent because of black person Sammy Davis Jr. said he was regarded as a singer only on his stage. Della Reese is cute but a great singer. I feel sorry that there was race discrimination in those days.
