CD recommended by Mr. Kondo Ravi Coltrane"in flux" Ravi Coltrane(ts,ss) ,Luis Perdomo(p),Drew Gress(b),EJ Strickland(ds),Luisito Quintero(per) Released in 2005 Columbia Entertainment COCB-53342 The introduction by piano leads deep and warm tenor saxophone and it makes melody of the first number. Two minutes performance expresses all of his message in this album. I can feel his eagerness through this album. His father is John Coltrane. Deep love to others are showed in his calm but powerful performance. |

"Away" is beautiful music with triple rhythm. The range of tone is narrow but each tone is lively. He plays tenor saxophone like story telling. Advanced technique and spiritual toughness are required to perform ballad solo with slow tempo. I can imagine Ravi enjoy playing tenor saxophone with glee like child. He performs it spiritedly but he seems relaxed. The combination of piano, bass, drum and percussion are excellent in "Blending Times" which is a new number. Sound quality gives us the feeling of being at a live performance. Ravi's sound shows his new direction for his music. |

The comment by guest Guest : Mr. Hisayuki Terai of Jazz Club Over Sees Mr. Terai gave the comment on "Rhapsody in Black" introduced by Ms. Cappuccino on June 24. Cab is a talented singer. Ella used to be a dancer and a gorgeous vocalist. Billy is a real bapper. Salah's is a top singer. Nat King Call has great technique to move people. Dina is similar to Izumi Yukimura, not Chiemi Eri. |

CD recommended by Ms.Cappuccino Ella Fitzgerald,Louis Armstorong "ELLA AND LOUIS" Ella Fitzgerald(vo),Louis Armstorong(tp,Vo),Oscar Peterson(p),Herb Ellis(g),Ray Brown(b),Buddy Rich(ds) Recorded August 1956 in Hollywood Ella is regarded as one of most famous Jazz female vocalist. Louis is also a great musician in Jazz history. I recommend a swingy and grace album by Ella and Louis with Oscar Peterson Trio. I want to listen to it again and again. I would like to tell you about their similarity. Neither Ella or Louis had a happy home environment. Ella's mother died when she was 15 and she became homeless in NY since then. She attended a contest as dancer at Apollo Theater during being homeless. She was so tensed up that she could not move her body very well. So, she sang a song ad-lib and won the contest. It was the gateway to singer. |

Louis was raised in degenerated social atmosphere . One day he fired a shop and was sent to the rehabilitation facility. A trumpet changed his life and he had mastered the trumpet to be a professional trumpeter by he left there. At the recording the staff dropped music note and he immediately sang by scat. It was a story that scat was created. Ad-lib helped Ella and Louis to be great musician. Ella's soprano , Rui's husky voice and trumpet harmonize very well. Ad-lib and scatt by them remind me "Wonderful World". Each number fascinates me and it is a great album. Horn speaker make his trumpet more powerful. My husband said that the sound by horn speaker is different from that by full range speaker. Is it true? |

"can't we be friends?" is song for adult. The guitar performance is excellent in "Isn't This A Lovely Day". "They Can't Take That Away From Me" features clear voice. Ella's voice in "A Foggy Day" is rhythmical. "Cheek To Cheek" is very famous duet song. It starts with swingy and husky voice of Rui and Oscar's piano. Ella sings a light tempo and they have duet at the climax. Ella and Louis sing "The Nearness Of You" "April In Paris" very softly. There are 11 heart-waming songs in this album. |
