Recently I am interested in Jazz vocal and I heard that Janet Seidel is talented a singer and she started her carrier as singer in 80's. David Seidel of bassist is her brother. She can sing difficult song easily and brightly and her voice makes the listeners relaxed and happy. Peggy Lee reminds us of "Black Coffee" and "Johnny Guitar". Janet delivers different atmosphere from some numbers. She sings straightly and clearly. She has unusual ability of rhythm. "Blues in the night" is excellent. The combination of her vocal and instrument is well-harmonized. The live atmosphere fills the album and it makes to get a favorable review. |
Kevyn Lettau/Bye Bye BlackbirdKevyn Lettau(vo), Dori Caymmi(acg), Russell Ferrantep, rhodes),Jerry Watts Jr.(b), Mike Shapiro(ds), Paulinho Da Costa(perc), Larry Goldngs(merodica solo) Recorded L.A. in 2004 Kevyn was born in 1960. She has started her career at 24 when she was discovered by Sergio Mendes. She has a long career over 20 years. I don't like too much sexy vocal with maturity , however, her album is fresh and natural. Brazil reminds me of coffee, but this album has image of soda pop. Her voice is sensitive but elasticity. Music arrangement is very effective to bring out her charm. |

Kevyn hesitated to sing standard numbers of famous jazz singers, but Dori Caymmi inspired her to make this album together who joins as guitarist and arranger. His Brazilian arrangement is comfortable for pops fans. Fantastic acoustic guitar by Dori and lovely vocal on "I've Got You Under My Skin" can lead a nice start of the day. Rhythmical drums by Mike is compatible with Latteu's beautiful voice lively on "Bye Bye Blackbird". "I've Love You Madly" is fascinating song with samba rhythm and her subtle sexiness inspires me. She can also make a mellow performance of love ballad like "I Fall In Love To Easily" . Her scat on "Let's Fall In Love" sounds like a lovely breeze. She makes duo performance with Jerry Watts Jr. (b) on "It's Delovely". Duo with Dori(g) is played at the last number "Sophisticated Lady" . |
