Andrea Pozza Trio/Sweet LorraineAndrea Pozza(p), Luciano Milanese(b), Stefano Bangnoli(ds) Recorded in Milano on January 2005 Venus Records TKCV-35347 Released in April 21, 2005 " I listen to real sound of music by main system in daytime and I listen to it silently by sub-system at night." I feel happy that I can enjoy jazz music as I like in nice atmosphere. Of course I want to listen to this album with real sound and quality. The excellent performance immediately overpowers listeners and the sound quality is great. New piano trio is produced by Venus records. Hara director of Venus Records finds talented artists one after another .I am so impressed by Andrea Piano Trio that he flied to Italy to find. |

The leader, Andrea Pozza, was born in October 1965 in Genova . It is siad that he started his performance as musician around 1980. He has played with Gian Basso(ts) and other famous musicians many times and releases a lot of leader album. This is his first album released in Japan which is standard numbers album played with two musicians of rhythm section. Their performance may remind you of old NY and trace the respect to the popular jazz pianists in 50's. They play jazz in orthodox style but their triune performance by piano, bass, drums is excellent with magnum sound by Venus Records. Beautiful ensemble is created by each character. Piano solo in each track is wonderful and I would like to focus on his potential talent as pianist. I really look forward to new CD albums released by Venus. Jazz music by Venus raises my courage and give me energy. I may be fascinated with audio more and more. I am cultivated by Jazz and it drives me to get into the Jazz world. |
Art Tatum Trio/The Tatum Group MasterpiecesArt Tatum(p), Red Callender(b), Jo Jones(ds) Recorded in January 27,1956 Art Tatum is one of the greatest jazz pianist in Jazz history. He died quite young at 46. He was blind in one eyes and only partially sighted in the other by nature. It is said in the liner notes of this album that the blind by nature is never handicap for musician , In my opinion I am not sure it is true or not . He had unusual ability in piano and violin from early childhood. He played as a professional pianist in teens. I was astonished by numerous tones in his performance that I could not catch. I said Mr. Mimura, the owner of Jazz shop, that "His performance seems little noisy." He said "Don't you know Art Tatum is called God ?" Afterwards, I listen to it everyday. I attended "Thelonious Monk Jazz lecture" and learned about the poetic turn of mind.. When I heared melody of Art Tatum, I had the moment that told me the title. It might be the things that I could acquire through that lecture. If so, it is really great for me. |

Art Tatum emerged as a jazz pianist in 1940 and his style is wide stride falling down from high range similar to that of Thelonious Monk.. His smooth and free play on the keyboard was amaging. His technique is incredible and his performance is graceful and elegant. His left-handed performance is rhythmical with modulation during solo performance. I am overpowered by his energetic melody. "Just One Of Those Things" is up-tempo with improvising during solo. Red's bass is also powerful and solo performance of brush work by drums is overlapped with Art Tatum's piano. "Some Other Spring" is graceful and "If" is dramatic. "Love For Sale" "Isn't It Romantic" are swingy and melodious. Tatum plays comfortably in "I Guess I'll Have To Change My Plan". My favorite is his original "Trio Blues". |
