Jake Shimabukuro/Dragon Jake Shimabukuro(Ukulele/ el.guiter ・ac.guiter・key.), Dean Taba(b), Daniel Pardo(fl), Allen Leong(org), Bin Yasuno((e.guiter) Jake Shimabukuro is young but famous Ukulele musician in Hawaii( 30 years old). He started to play Ukulele at 4 and he became a member of Pure Heart after graduating high school in 1998. He is so talented to play rock and blues with Ukulele. My daughter thought this CD was performed by electric guitar. His finger technique makes you imagine that he plays the electric guitar and he can perform various tones in different music.
	I feel relaxed to hear "With U Always"(song for Hawaiian Promotion Video) and watch the video of surfing in the magnificent sea with sunshine and blue sky. "Dragon" which is a title of this album is fascinating music with strings and delicate tones. "2 B Organic" is so smooth and gentle that I can not imagine that it is played by Ukulele. "Me And Shirley T." has lovely melody and rhythmical number. "Touch" is performed by elegant quartet. "En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor" is famous Aranjuez concerto by Ukulele, violin ,viola and cello. I love "Making A Perfect Yesterday" . Warm and gentle tones recall lovely and happy days. "Toastmanland" and "Looking Back" are arranged by reggae and rock. I'm sure you might be surprised by Jake's Ukulele technique . What image will you have with his music?
CD recommended by Ms. Trumpeter Tsutomu Aragaki/Nuchidou Chikara Tsutomu Aragaki A serial column about "Tsutomu Aragaki" in the evening newspaper caught my eyes this summer . He was born to American sergeant and Japanese woman in 1952 . He lost his eyesight soon after birth and his parents disappeared. He overcame his unhappy background and he insists on loving own life. He is called a soulful tenor. The article described his miserable background , the process in which he overcame and accept his disadvantage in his life. Voice trainer recognized his ability as singer and the confidence in his ability let him forgive his farther. This description provoked me to listen to his voice.
	The title of this album is "Antiwar and Peace" which was released 60 years after the end of World War II.War destroys happy daily life. Present life is based on the bloody past. Still now people have grief in their mind and pray to heal their mind. Southern wind sounds to carry their sorrow. I think his live might be so moved to cry. The first number "Shirayurino Hanaga Sakukoro" is written by Kazufumi Miyazawa of "THE BOOM" and he joins chorus. Tsutom sings "Namida sousou"(#2) greater than any other singers who covers this song. "Blowin' In The Wind" is so fascinating to give me goose bumps. "Shinda Otokono Nokoshitamonowa" is written by Syuntaro Tanigawa who famous Japanese author and composed by Toru Takemitsu. It is well-arranged song and moves the listeners comfortably. My daughter sings "Believe" together . She told that she learned it at elementary school. Aragaki message catches my heart during taking in the laundry flapped in fine autumn wind. His voice encourages me to make effort for peace and happiness.
