Hello, this is Tokushige reporting from Nihonbashi Store.
This time I will introduce a Japan-made tube power amp.
Which is the brilliant equipment released in 1977 by UESUGI, "U/BROS-3". This model using 4 KT-88s for the power tube outputs 50W+50W (90W when the monaural used). The outer dimension is W420 x H200 x D300(mm). 4 KT-88s in order hid in a bonnet still has a dominating presence.
My first impression was "This model must be good with classical music for sure!". I felt this amp produces more glamorous sound compared with LUX "MQ60" and "A3600" since I listened to them often in test listening and behavior check. Both amps produce decent sounds. But I would rather say that the LUX sound is more dry and the UESUGI sound has something special you would be attracted to even though it is low-key. On the other hand, you may feel that something is missing a bit for the mid-range density or the low-range dynamism. I want to mellow out with music by combining Tannoy 15-inch speakers.
