The SQ38 model is a vacuum tube type pre main amp which became a very long-lived and big-time best-seller since the original model was released in 1964, 41 years ago from now. The model went through the minor modification several times, and the item I introduce this time is the third generation released in 1968. (The model develops like 38->38D->38F->38FD->38FDmk.) This item adopts 50CA10 for its power tube, and its output is 30W+30W. Since the heating value is quite big just like all the other tube amps, you need to make enough space for that when placing it. |

This is the real LUX amp with this soft and clear tone. This amp is almost 40 years old, though, I think it is comparable to any amp in the present market. When I compared this item with L-570 the A-class pre main amp (which was made in 1989) before, I felt that 38F was better than L-570 in terms of the depth feel which is more like the sound depth. I don't think this amp will betray your expectations for the speaker's characteristics. Since this amp has the driving force, it can produce full sound even through the large-scale or low-performance speaker. This item is my push for persons who want to try the tube amp but reluctant to do so because of the budget and the placing space when it comes to the separate type one. Actually I have another tube pre main amp of my push (which is made in China where they have an audio boom right now). But I will talk about that some other time. |
