Hello. This is a report by Tokushige at Nihonbashi Store. This week I introduce to you a Nakamichi cassette recorder first in a long period.
The cassette tape was first developed by PHILIPS to make easier recording and playing back on magnetic tape. In order to make the cassette tape durable for use on hi-fi audio equipment, each domestic and overseas maker conducted research and development for both software (cassette tape) and hardware (cassette recorder). Finally in 1973, the world-first three-headed Nakamichi1000 was created.
The Nakamichi1000 boasted its excellent capability far beyond the standard at that time with the wow and flutter of 0.05% or less, frequency range of 35 through 20,000Hz, and the signal-to-noise ratio of 60dB or more (using chrome tape). The price was also far beyond the average at \278,000 (as of 1975).
Having recorded and played back on this cassette recorder, I was surprised at the thick sound to the extent that I wondered if I had set a wrong recording level, so I checked it. The azimuth adjustment had to be done manually and it was a complex process. But I felt it even fresh on the contrary.
This vintage recorder is exhibited at Nihonbashi Store as of November 7. Of course, you are free to try it out for listening at the store. If you are interested in it, do come and visit our store, please.
