Nice to meet you, my name is Abe the new recruit. It's been one and a half months since I started working in here. So I would like to introduce myself and CDP-R3 the SONY CD player at the same time. I was working in the photography industry before I joined Hi Fi Do. I have been drumming for 20 years because I always like music. These days I miss my band activity a little bit since I can't do it any more after I started this job. I listen to all sorts of music. I would like to introduce CDs of my push in this Online Newsletter. |

Chick Corea Akoustic Band This is my first JAZZ CD I bought and I saw their concert in Japan. Drumming by Dave Weckel is perfect. Chick Corea Akoustic Band at those times was focusing on the electric band activity though; they made a tour around places in flexible piano band experimentally, which got great reviews and so they released that CD. The selected songs are mainly standard and the performance is also wonderful. However, I got an impression that it lacks a borderline tension since the rhythm band consisted by Dave Weckel and John Patitucci is too perfect because they were involved in fusion music. I practiced 4 beats quite hard after meet this CD. |

SONY CD player, CDP-R3 I think CDP-R3 has many appeals. If I must pick up major things of them, they would be the design, internal processing and sound. The design is influenced by the trend of the separate type CDP R1a+DAS R1a which was top grade in Sony at that time. The harmonization of the wooden sideboard and the front panel with a champagne gold hair line finish is excellent and looks very posh. The DAC part uses two "pulse D/A" converters of SONY's original one-bit system employed in the high-class machine parallel, on which it is equipped with stuffs from the separate machine such as "high density linear converter system" combined with a 45-bit noise shaping digital filter. It reproduces sounds of musical instruments that linger like piano so beautifully and soft sounds of stringed instruments comfortably. It also insists on removing digital noises, so the sound is very ear-friendly. |
