I went to the Aichi Expo the other day. And I saw this sound system in a certain pavilion, which was unbelievable to me as a worker for the audio equipment shop. The system consists of a combination of 6 huge BOSE cannon woofers and a dozen of BOSE speakers.
But as you can expect much from BOSE equipments, they were doing a very good job. That sound system generates earth tremor-like low frequency and crisp mid/high frequency. Well of course the system is for theater use (?), so the sound seems a little bit rough but it sure takes the audiences to the cinematic world. This time I would like to introduce a little bit unique fascination of BOSE equipments.
	First of all, we have "802" famous for pro use. This is compatible with all kinds of environments by using the special equalizer, which you already know probably. You want your own studio at home? Then this is definitely a must-have. Maybe it's just my imagination, but the sound has a better balance as the sound pressure rises higher even though it sounds a little bit rough. Especially this equipment is perfect for the sound reproduction. And "802" is perfect for persons who want to enjoy some live-like music.
"902" is the one released for home use as a counterpart of "802" that is for pro use. As may be expected of home use equipment unlike "802", this is equipped with reflectors on both sides, let alone the special equalizer, and allows you to control the acoustic environment to details. I felt the sound is smoother than that of "802" and has no roughness. "902" is a perfect speaker with a wood-effect appearance for persons who want to feel the realistic sensation as if they were in the theater at home.
	Super woofer for the great second fiddle This is a really long woofer ensuring the great texture even in the large space like a place with live music or small theater. This woofer is very interesting because the unit is installed at the mid joint and you can control the phase depending on the length of pipes on both sides. You won't be able to find this kind of woofer elsewhere. This is perfect for persons who feel reluctant to have the large diameter unit even in a big room. This item is powerful in sound and appearance at the same time.
Of course we have a woofer for home use as well. The baby version of AWCS. It is called Baby Cannon! What a cute name! I have the same one with this name. Especially the combination with small speakers is beyond description. And this woofer is way more dynamic than the YAMAHA's active woofer. But this seems to have some little pattern in generating sounds, so use your initiative in setting when combining with the speakers manufactured by other company.
	The last item "402" can be used in many ways as a center or surround speaker. This speaker can generate solid mid frequency in weight maybe because it has only 4 units. Small-size speakers for surround speaker tend to generate feeble mid frequency. But you don't have to worry about such a problem with this. You would feel as if someone was actually speaking to you from behind. Of course this can serve as a main speaker well enough. And it's perfect for vocal-based songs or instrument-based music with the deep sound. Despite the small size, it is actually the all-rounder.
Speaking of recent BOSE, we have an impression that BOSE has compact and fashionable items. But I recognized this time that BOSE equipments are made to be compatible with various kinds of environment. There are some compact and low-priced models these days with the home theater boom. But why don't you seek some hard-core equipment for a couple of your items? Some models are too big and unfashionable designed but the sound level is completely beyond the home theater sound system around there.
