My Audio and Jazz History The 28th episode, "Macintosh control amp C46, Chapter 3: "Realizing the best sound quality" by Kenji Kondo on August 19 XLR pin of C46 is the second HOT, SACD player DCD-SA1 of DENON that I am currently using is the third HOT. But I cannot use it since the phase is reversed. So currently the manufacturer is converting the reversed phase of XLR balance cable and connecting in order to match the polarities of the second and third HOT. When I asked the manufacturer how long it will take them to get it done, they said "It will take about 2 weeks since we are busy now". |

Well I have no other choices. For the time being, I have to listen to music with RCA cable. Then I started listening. In such a big moment, I always listen to this demo CD, "Easy walker by LARRY FULLER TRIO" on the XRCD 2nd disc. This CD is really great audio-wise and besides recorded in hi-fi sound. Even as Jazz music this album is superb in sound quality that I could say "Gosh! It's so irresistible!" every time I listen to this well-swinging rhythm. |

It took me around 3 to 4 hours to put it on aging after connecting C46 to the power amp "Macintosh MC500", and I could instantly notice that the sound quality changed from that of C40. As soon as it made a sound, I could especially notice more energetic feeling in low-range than ever, which has way lower deep bass in low-range which is sort of firm range as a whole. The sound has a powerful feeling and comes out quickly, so this C46 seems to be bringing out the flexibility and the high-revving power of MC500 very well. I listened to SACD player DENON DCD-SA1 exclusively for 2ch with imbalanced connection. The tone was very clear and crisp having a detailed expression with soft sound texture. And I felt that it was very high in resolution as if I could tell the number of instrument players because each instrument stood out well. And I was overwhelmed by the massive feeling of bass drum and the instantaneous force of dynamic bass rhythm. But above all, the feeling in high-range was excellent. I noticed its sound range got more detailed, wider in side and higher in S/N ratio than ever, and then the expression of the space and stage feeling was indescribably well-done. The localization of each instrument became clearer and the range was extremely wide and very clear as the cymbal sound stretched out beautifully. I talked to myself unknowingly "This is an excellent reproducibility!" since the brush sounds were very subtle and clear. I strongly felt that C46 was not well-known for nothing. Because the Jazz piano, bass and guitar sound powerfully, beautifully and clearly, I could recognize each sound very distinctly. I realized again that it was a very good decision to introduce C46. Then I sensed that the control amp "C46" was a new reference equipment leading current golden days for digital equipment by expressing the feeling coming through music. I strongly felt that C40 was reborn as C46 having Macintosh sound as it was by equipping the latest technologies and enhancing the technologies and know-how of C40 which was loved by many audiophiles because of its performance and rich functionality. C46 realized the best reproducibility in sound quality. I was looking at the glaring beautiful glass panel reflecting blue letters and green illumination for long around dusk thinking that I want to control the Macintosh equalizer harmless especially in terms of the degradation in sound quality and enjoy audio sound and Jazz music as much as possible with C46 boasting its high quality and multi-functionality. |
