My audio and jazz history The 30th episode, "Mclntosh power amp MC602, Chapter 2: Good bye "The quiet giant" by Kenji Kondo on September 2 Well it requires quite a lot of power to carry up this super heavy MC602 to the3rd floor. Two staffs from Hi Fi Do carefully walk up the stairs by taking a brake once in a while with the MC602. After all, the MC602 is inside the original box of 72cm in width, 77cm in depth and 45cm in height, so it seems difficult for them to keep the separation between both of them. It was a nail-biting moment for me as a bystander. And I was quite nervous. However I knew those staffs were used to it. They took time and carried it up slowly and carefully to the 3rd floor at long last. |

The listening room on the 3rd floor is already full of heavyweight audio equipments like JBL4344MK2 etc. The 3rd floor is designed to be put heavy audio equipments. Hence it will be OK with quite a strong reinforcement. |

I have to say "Good bye" to the power amp MC500 which I loved the most for sound for 5 years and made me enjoy with the big-boned, thick and crisp sound of Jazz as well as the control amp, C40. And the high potential of MC500 was sinking into my brain again. I think that the combination with JBL 4344MK2 for Jazz and piano trio is quite exquisite just as this corner said before like "Although I can't help admitting the generation gap in a little distortion than MC602, but which, on the other hand, generates the sound quality for Jazz. I came to think that this MC500 is more preferable in view of the situation of providing the big-boned feeling and the thick sound and the sound quality for Jazz". I feel that this is a really reliable power amp to enjoy the big-boned sound feeling of Jazz. (The photograph is cited from the products information in the past.) |

I was tenderly and unknowingly wiping the glass panel of a beautiful blue eyed MC500 with a cloth with talking to myself that "it was genuinely ‘the quiet giant'Thank you and Good bye "the quiet giant"!! |
