My audio and jazz history The 33rd episode, "Biwire adaptor BWA-20", by Kenji Kondo on September 30 "Biwire adaptor BWA-20" released recently from AUDIO CRAFT was very unique, and its advantage was significant. A lot of modern speakers have bi-wiring type input terminal as a standard model, but they are mostly connected by one cable. The loss from this is pretty significant. This cannot solve the problem unless the terminal is connected from the cable in the same condition even though it is possible to upgrade the jumper cable to some extent. And even with the connection by one speaker cable, the biwire adaptor which can be effective as well as or more than biwiring is a sort of distributor to feed power to the low and high region terminals evenly right before the speaker terminal. As you can see in the picture, the large-scale cylinder-like stuff is a terminal box and the circuit element is not used in it. |

Here a cable of 20 cm in length is supposed to be connected to the speaker terminal evenly. There would be no problem to use BWA-20 cable as it is since the terminal hasn't been treated, but I want to use high-quality Y-lug and banana plug. A manufacturer says "They are significantly advantageous especially with a large scale speaker." Wow.. I was impressed. Comparing the connection by the jumper cable with this adaptor, the speakers produced considerably fresher sounds with the increased delicate feel and clearness in high-region, the expressiveness of strong contrast and the high SN ratio. |

I actually listened to a new album called "My Fanny Valentine/Eddie Higgins & Scott Hamilton" TKCV-35348. Then it sounded better especially in high region, and the resolution level enhanced a lot in mid and low region. And I felt that the distortion feel decreased. The lingering sound was very clear without any messiness of piano touch. I was impressed by the excellent, crisp and thick texture of tenor saxophone by Hamilton and the large wood bass with full of energy in low region by Jay Leonhart. Moreover, each tone had a smooth and dry feel but no rough feel. It was like the expressiveness became very cheerful. |

Also the vocal quality was clear in solo vocal as in "Rita Coolidge/And so is love" KICJ-485, and I liked the feel of non messy but delicately expressed sounds. After all the influence of the back electromotive force generated at the terminal cannot be avoided even by using the expensive jumper cable but can bring about a big advantageous effect only with the biwire adaptor. So it should be valued more because of this fact and you should be happy to have it as one of the means to bring out the better sound quality from the cable itself. Although I want to think about introducing this one after I have made sure of this reproducibility, it is really hard to give up on the jumper cable since I am using the high-performance one currently. "What should I do?" Anyway I need to think double about it. |
