My audio and jazz history, The 38th episode, " KIMBER KABLE PK-14Gold: Part 2 – Reality", by Kenji Kondo on October 28 First I tried PK-14Gold by connecting it to the Mclntosh control amp C46 that I introduced recently. |

The album I listened to is the latest album called "Midnight Waltz/Cedar Walton Trio" TKCV-35349. The sound pressure is considerably high in this album. I was impressed to hear the sound and I was like "My gosh, this sounds awesome". It has the clear and vivid reproducibility. The piano sound is deep and solid in expression and clear in sound image with maintaining the realistic feel. It is brilliant in the serene feel. It sounds powerful and so clear. The sound pressure is also very high.It is totally dynamic in the contrasty powerful masculine feel of the bass with a firm sense of rhythm. And the low range has little restraint and it sounds really attractive with the high agility and resolution. I also listened to this new album "Momentum/Joshua Redman Elastic Band" WPCR-12031. This sounds louder even with the same volume level. Moreover, the sound is hard-core and straightforward, and excellent in the delicate feel. I felt more powerful when I heard the sound. The high range feel is more detailed and clearer. And the wide range is broadened and the sound is excellent in resolution. The saxophone, guitar, base and drum for jazz sounded deep and powerful with the increased speed feel. It sounded sharp, clear and beautiful into my ears. |

Well, I had no idea that the power cable could change the sound this much. I was made to realize that the world of audio accessories is bottomless. I think this owes to the latest Mclntosh MC602 and C46 that I replaced for the power amp and the control amp. And I figured out that this excellent mid and high range feel is full of reality and detailed nuance with the delicate texture and the crisp harmony in every corner. Also, it felt indescribably comfortable in the space expression by the unclouded firm tone in low range and in the afterglow at the end of jazz music. The focus in sound quality is clear and also brilliant in visibility. Besides it was full of reality and I felt it had the hard-core reproducibility. And I could feel the warm expression and its brilliancy quite clearly. (At this point, I already decided to introduce PK-14Gold.) After I finished listening, I drank off a glass of rich and mellow scented brandy with saying "Well, being an audiophile is really fun". |
