My treasure EMT accident! (ongoing still now) Part 2 by short Foot Though the SA-139st is a Counterpoint product, it is a modification of the EMT products and is a phono-equalizer/attenuator specialized for the EMT TSD15. |

At any rate, I needed a TSD15 cartridge. It was the standard item which regularly sold at Hi-Fi Do, so I should have waited for the next sale date leisurely. But I was hurried person like a sick patient. |

I bought a TSD offered by a certain shop and TMD offered by Mr. O. (I had bought an EMT929 for the Thorens version but later on it became a big troublemaker.) Then, I wanted to buy a player. At first, I bid off a rare Thorens TD121 at Yahoo Auction, but I wanted a TD124 as well, so I bought that one too from the same person. Like certain famous web master, I put two Thorens players side by side. These two compact players were so charming that I understood the reason why people wanted to obtain as many as two of them at hand. But these were not so friendly. It was like tiles of mahjong had been at hand and I wanted to win the game straight. However, it was foolish of me to imagine such an easy way. (^_^;) |
The first "rebellion" was by the EMT929 for the Thorens I had purchased from Mr. O. I had to start from assembling the separate parts and then the problem occurred. I heard the EMT929 had been sold attached on the TD-125, but the female socket for the old-type tube on the tip of the arm lead was no good. I did not have any phono-cord fit for it. I wished to have a phono-cord suitable for it if possible. |

I consulted with a radio enthusiast who was my longtime friend. He said he would look for the socket at audio parts shops in Akihabara on his planned visit there. Although I searched socket makers on the website, the number of pins of the socket was different first of all. I waited my friend back from Akihabara and looked at his face, thinking he might have failed to find the socket. According to him, a parts-shop owner in Radio Hall showed him this, and said, "It might be this one right?" My friend bought two of them. (^_^) I modified the tips of a special phono-cord I bid off at Yahoo Auction at a rather high price and asked him to solder it. Could I get rid of the trouble? |
However, I found further trouble that there was no continuity of the arm. I contacted Mr. O and ask him to repair it, but it took a few weeks to repair. Furthermore, trouble continued. The minimum height of the EMT929 that should be suitable for the Thorens player could not be obtained. Was it absolutely for the TD 125 and not for the TD124? Was the height up to the turntable different? |

I custom-ordered arm-bases to "vcyoyo" in Osaka but "yoyo" made a mistake concerning the size, which resulted in re-making. To make sure this time, I had the EMT929 fixed with the board sandwiched in the two arm-bases. Around this point, I stressed out and asked in my mind, "Does Heaven dislike this plan of mine?"
