My friend really wanted to get my speaker and asked me to hand it over to him. He delivered wood board for speaker to me which I asked him before. So, I gave him my speaker made by maple board and decided to make another speaker with new wood board.
The thickness of the wood board which my friend brought me is 32mm. The wood is hard and it has very beautiful print. I drilled a hole 170mm in diameter and installed 20cm speaker unit on it.
The sound response of this speaker seemed much better than the former speaker which I made of maple wood. I was surprised to know that the material of the board caused to make the sound different completely even though the same unit is used. That's why I have been fascinated with audio hobby so long time. My speaker unit(20cm in diameter) is full range of VICTOR produced 20 or 30 years ago. The board is so hard that it is very heavy. I would like to make another speaker of marble stone with same unit, but it might be difficult to drill hole on marble stone. If you know the way to make a hole in it, please let me know it. I had made many speakers and the sound of this wood material seems best and comfortable for me.
