My Audio and Jazz History "JBL S4800" by Kenji Kondo Truly, it is JBL. This reproducibility of S4800 is attractive and uncanny. The project K2 represented by JBL S9800 has produced many variations. This S4800 has the composition which inherited many things from the studio monitor. They are three ways that also combined the combination horn with the large 15 inch woofer. This Woofer 1500FE is the same of being used for 4348 studio monitor. The ferrite magnet is used for a porcelain circuit.
The combination horn is inherited from S5800. Special material sonoglass developed by K2 was processed with high precision, the compression driver is 435AL and had the porcelain circuit of a niobium magnet, And the voice coil has adopted aluminum ribbon. Super tweeter is using 045Ti of 25mm caliber by pure titanium diagram. Composition which unified the horn part of tweeter and super tweeter. The relation between units is strengthened with unified as a horn unit. It was possible to connect horizontal and vertical directivity smoothly. 	A cabinet is made from MDF of 25mm thickness, and has responded to vibration of biggest Woofer firmly. Bus reflex port is round processing and is one on the back. The amplifier I used for an audition this time is the flag ship pri-main amplifier PMA-SA1 which supplied the latest newly released technology from DENON. I listened to Nicole Henry's Vocal "Teach me tonight". The texture of voice is warm and harmony has thickness. The solo is sounding my ears. Atmosphere of whispering softly was very comfortable. I felt the spread by the way of flowing that drifts to space. Moreover, by the piano trio, "So in Love / romantic jazz trio." the real physical feeling of a base and the feeling of a scale of a piano are firmly taken out. It seems that I also turn out well that there are the settled down sound which the wood quality of recording studio. And the way of sounding carried out calmly is JBL. The touch of a piano is thick. The wood base is also equipped with rich textures. The sound quality is with high freshness.
	Now, shop's audition room is somewhat narrow by modification, I want to come here more the base because of capacity. I thought strongly that I want to sound with the larger room fully Fully rich low-range of the 15 inch woofer, Comfortable and energetic mid and high range that the horn driver takes out.
S4800 is a 3 way floor type which is called a reference studio monitor "4348"'s unit of low-range, and the unit for the mid and high range of a project K2 "S5800", which was produced from the combination of the JBL newest and the maximum machines and it is full of Musicality. The high degree of digestion by nature. Sense of stability. It reproduces all of music. I thought strongly that it was the representation model of the modern horn system which compiled the know-how of JBL which took in the technology of an upper model.
